According to my babys heartbeat is it a boy or a girl?

My babys heartbeat ranges from around 140-150 bpm, i heard that you can detect whether its a boy or a girl. Is mine a boy or a girl? I am 29 weeks pregnant and the baby was being stubborn at my 20 week scan so i couldn't see what it was, and i would love to know.

  1. mine was 157bpm at 7 weeks and i was told thats a boys heartbeat, i havent found out what im having so cant say yes or no but apparently the faster the heartbeat the more likely to be a boy... if you believe in all that stuff lol
  2. Old wives tale. They are only right 50% of the time. It's said the higher the BPM then it's a girl. My 1st heartbeat was 130 - girl My 2nd heartbeat was 155 - boy My 3rd heartbeat was 160 - girl And for that matter, the heartbeat will change at every appointment.
  3. erm im not sure but next time you go for your scan you should ask the midwife wherther it is a boy or girl
  4. I don't think it's actually true. It's a big myth. Heartbeats can't tell you if your going to have a boy or a girl, i think it's a load of crap. (Sorry) I think the ultrasound, where they can actually see the baby's parts 'down there' might be of more help. Maybe have another ultrasound done to find out
  5. My daughter's heartbeat was around 150-160bpm in utero, my unborn sons' averages around 130bpm (all this falls in with that old "wives tale" about sex and heartbeats). I also seem to have several of the old wives' tales about pregnancy coming true for me as well; I've suffered moderate to extreme heartburn in both of my pregnancies, and both my babies have masses of hair, I craved sweets with my daughter, and savouries with my son, I've carried my daughter low, and my son high, I carried my daughter in a compact little bump towards the front of my belly, and I am carrying my son in a sprawl that covers my entire front... To determine the sex of your little one, just tune into your intuition...People tend to pooh pooh mother's intuition, but most of the time, it is 100% right. I was perfectly accurate with the sex of both of my babies, from six weeks with my daughter, and four weeks with my son (even too early to diagnose that I was pregnant at all). Good luck with your little one :)
  6. According to old wives tales your baby is a girl. I don't believe them personally x
  7. It's not true at all. I specifically asked my doctor this question because I know a lady that said she knew for sure I was having a boy because the heart rate was so low (I'm having a girl). Her reasoning is that boys are much lazier than girls so therefore the heart rate is much slower. My doctor said that if this were true they wouldn't have to bother checking for the gender with an ultrasound and that the heart rate varies at every appointment anyway. He said it is a complete myth. I''ve also heard that if you pour Drain-o in the toilet bowl and pee on it and the water turns a different color that you're having a girl...complete myth as well. Hope this helps!
  8. I wouldn't listen to anyone who tells you it's a girl or a boy just by going on this. I heard my babys heartbeat at 15 weeks and it was 138bpm, had my scan at 22 weeks and she's a Girl. Everyone told me a boy ... it's a load of garbage! Sorry your baby was so stubborn at your scan, can't you get another one done? Good Luck.
